GEOCHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF AU-U DEPOSITS IN THE NORTHERN TRANSBAIKALIA

The Kodar-Udokan structure-formational zone Lower Proterozoic sediments enclosing the Au-U Khadatkanda deposit are studied. Integrated geochemical, mineralogical, isotopic investigations of rocks and ores are conducted. The results indicate that the U and Au mineralization is associated with various temporal intervals and different geodynamic regimes. The source of radioactive elements was most likely represented by underlying sediments of the Kevakta Series, distributed throughout the whole Baikal mountain area. The obtained data enable researchers to refer Au-U deposits from the studied area to unconformity type. It increases the probability of Au and U detection in the Baikal mountain area.
